C1. R+D+i Building

The University of Salamanca has a new building devoted to R+D+i, a modern multi-use infrastructure measuring 13,000 m2 and built in collaboration with the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) and the Regional Government of Castile & Leon. It hosts three research institutes, eight research services, and 28 laboratories of different research groups whose installations have been endowed thanks to the CEI and Innocampus Projects, as is the case of the Centre for the Characterization of Biological Resources, the services offered by the Nucleus Platform (stable isotopes, mass spectrometry, nano-electronics, Laboratory of Ionizing Radiation), the Institute of Science and Technology Studies, the Institute for Research in the Art and Technology of Animation, and the Service of Digital Production and Innovation. With the collaboration of Iberdrola, and with a view to intelligent and efficient energy management, the building has been equipped with a cogeneration system with a 19kWe motor for self-consumption and 38 kWt fueled by natural gas.
